I never thought that my family will enjoy this Layered Apple Pork Chop Bake. I mean, it is hard to make them try different things that they are not familiar with. During the time that I decided to first make this, I have tons of apples waiting to rot just sitting on my cupboard. I hesitated but reading the reviews from people who already tried this fueled me to just jump in and do it! Good thing I did because this dish quickly became one of my family’s favourites and my go-to. The ingredients are readily available, and this is done in a single pan for easy clean-up.

4-6 boneless pork chops
2-3 apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 tsp nutmeg, divided
1/4-1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon, divided
1/2 tbsp cornstarch, optional
Fresh rosemary, minced, garnish
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
How to make Layered Apple Pork Chop Bake
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: In the bottom of a large baking dish, place the apple slices and sprinkle with half tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. On top of the apple slices, lay the pork chops and season liberally with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Place the butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan. Whisk until melted and combined over medium-high heat. Add the rest of the cinnamon and nutmeg, then stir to incorporate.
Step 4: If using, stir in the cornstarch. Remember that cornstarch is not necessary but recommended if you want a thicker glaze.
Step 5: Over the pork chops and apple slices, pour the mixture. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until the meat is completely cooked.
Step 6: Take the chops off the oven when done and garnish with some fresh rosemary. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
