These healthy Italian Turkey Meatballs mirthfully billow in a pan of easy, beyond amazing homemade tomato sauce! Super simple to throw together and ready in less than an hour. Enjoy on their own or serve over pasta or rice for a satisfying meal that your family will certainly love!

Ingredients
Meatballs:
1 lb lean ground turkey
1/2 medium onion grated
3 garlic cloves minced
1/4 c. minced flat-leaf parsley
1/4 c. whole wheat breadcrumbs
1 Egg
1 tsp ground oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground pepper
Sauce:
2 tsp olive oil
1 small onion chopped
3 garlic cloves minced
1 tsp ground oregano
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 14 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1/4 c. minced flat-leaf parsley
4 basil leaves thinly sliced
How to make Italian Turkey Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Meatballs:
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F. And using a cooking spray, lightly grease a baking sheet.
Step 2: Place the ground turkey, onion, garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until well combined. Into 8 portions, divide the mixture, then form them into balls and place them in the prepared baking sheet.
Step 3: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes until firm and cooked through.
Sauce:
Step 4: In a large nonstick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion to the hot oil and cook for approximately 5 minutes until tender. Add the garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir and continue to cook for a minute more. Add the crushed tomatoes and bring the sauce to a boil. Once boiling, decrease the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add in the parsley and basil, then stir.
Step 5: Into the sauce, nestle the meatballs. Spoon the sauce over the meatballs to coat.
Step 6: Remove from the heat and serve immediately over pasta or rice or enjoy on their own.
