INGREDIENTS
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 lb. Italian sausage meat, casings removed, if needed
3 large garlic cloves, minced
1 lb. package farfalle pasta
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 head of broccoli, chopped
1/8 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
How to make Italian Sausage Pasta With Broccoli
Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the farfalle in a large pot of salted boiling water. About four minutes before straining the pasta, add the broccoli.
Step 2: Add the sausage meat into a hot large, nonstick skillet and cook over medium-high heat, breaking the meat into pieces as it cooks, until the sausage is golden brown and caramelized.
Step 3: To the sausage meat, add olive oil, garlic, and crushed red pepper. Step Step 4: Decrease the heat and cook further until the pasta is ready. Set aside 1 cup of pasta water, then strain the pasta and broccoli when done.
Step 5: To the skillet, add the broccoli and farfalle. Add the reserved pasta water to the skillet 1/4 c. at a time until the sausage has reduced to your desired consistency. Before serving, stir in the nutritional yeast.
