Fresh parsley, minced (optional)
HOW TO MAKE ITALIAN SAUSAGE BOW TIE PASTA
Step 1: According to package directions, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water. Drain when done.
Step 2: In the meantime, heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Add the sausage and red pepper flakes and cook over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through. Make sure to crumble the meat as it cooks. Then, add the onion and garlic and continue to cook until the onion is soft. Next, add the tomatoes along with the heavy cream. Let the mixture simmer for approximately 10 minutes until it thickened.
Step 3: To the sauce, add the spinach and continue to cook for additional 3 minutes before adding in the pasta. If desired, sprinkle with parsley. Enjoy!
NOTES:
For this recipe, you can use your favourite Italian sauce (mild, sweet, or hot). You can also use turkey sausage if you’d like.
If using Italian sausage with casings, ensure to remove the casings and use only the ground meat.
Leftovers are perfect the next day. Reheat and serve.
