In the past, it takes me hours to make bbq ribs. After I get hold of my Instant Pot, making ribs has never been easy! No need to marinate. Just cook the ribs for 45 minutes, and you’ve got yourself tender, juicy ribs. A great bonus is you can even use frozen ribs!

2/3 c. sweet BBQ sauce divided
3 pounds baby back ribs or pork loin ribs
1 tablespoon seasoning salt (Johnny’s or Lawry’s)
¼ c. apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons BBQ dry rub
½ teaspoon liquid smoke optional
6 c. apple juice
How to make Instant Pot Ribs
Step 1: Using a paper towel, pat dries the rack of ribs. Sprinkle both sides with the dry ingredients, rubbing to coat the ribs.
Step 2: Place the apple juice, vinegar, liquid smoke, and 1/3 c. of bbq sauce in an Instant Pot. Mix well until combined.
Step 3: Curl the rack of ribs inside, bone-side facing the centre. Make sure to partially submerge the ribs in the mixture in the slow cooker. Put the lid and set to cook the ribs for 25 minutes on high pressure. When the time is up, do a 10 minutes natural release of pressure, then manually release the rest.
Step 4: To a rimmed baking sheet lined with a wire rack, carefully transfer the ribs using two sets of tongs, meat-side up. With the rest of the 1/3 cup bb sauce, brush the top and sides of the ribs. Put the ribs in the centre of the oven and broil about for 4 to 5 minutes.
Step 5: When done, remove the ribs from the oven and allow them to rest for at least 5 to 10 minutes before serving. If desired, serve the Instant Pot Ribs with extra bbq sauce. Enjoy!
Notes:
You can finish cooking the ribs on the grill. Lay the ribs on a preheated 350 to 400 degrees F grill, cover, and cook for about 5 minutes.
Or in the Air Fryer: Divide the rack in half and put them side by side in the air fryer basket and set to cook on high for 4 minutes.
