INSTANT POT HAM GREEN BEANS AND POTATOES

by Rebecca September 25, 2021

Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 8 mins | Total Time: 18 mins | Servings: 4

This is another hack to make our beloved classic ham, green beans, and potatoes. Often made in a crockpot with a ham hock, you’ll sure love this easy turnover. This recipe is a nice way to use up all the leftover ham and effortlessly turn them into something amazing!

This is a traditional Southern one-dish meal. I normally make this after holidays where I have scores of leftover ham in the fridge. A budget-friendly dish with three main ingredients, this sure is one of my top favourite Instant Pot recipes.

Ingredients

6 – 8 new potatoes, halved

2 pounds fresh green beans (trimmed, washed, and drained)

1-1/2 c. diced ham (or 1 ham slice, chopped)

1/2 onion, sliced

salt and pepper

1 c. chicken broth or water

HOW TO MAKE INSTANT POT HAM GREEN BEANS AND POTATOES

Step 1: To the liner pot of the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker, add the diced ham and sliced onions along with the fresh, snapped and rinsed green beans. Over the beans, add the quartered potatoes. Stir to mix the ham, green beans, potatoes, and onions.

Step 2: Over the ham, green beans, potatoes, and onions, pour in a cup of chicken broth or water. Put the lid on and seal. Set to cook on high pressure for 8 minutes. Then, do a quick release of pressure when the timer beeps before carefully moving the pressure release valve to the Venting position to do a quick pressure release.

Step 3: To serve, spoon the ham, green beans, and potatoes into a serving bowl and enjoy right away.

Notes:

Cut the new potatoes or small Yukon Gold potatoes in half. Or slice in quarters, if using larger russet potatoes. If using very large potatoes, cut each into 6 pieces.

For the IP to come into pressure, it’ll take about 5 to 10 minutes before it begins the 8-minute pressure cooking time.
