Simple and easy. These two words best describe this amazing recipe! I never thought that cabbage alone would make the noodles very delicious! Oh, man, this recipe is a must-try! I have listed all the ingredients and directions all you need to do is to follow them and you are good to go! You are more than welcome to add meat or anything to this recipe if you prefer. 1 Tablespoon kosher salt
4 cups sliced cabbage
1 cup sliced onions
4 Tablespoons butter, canola oil, or bacon fat
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 cups cooked noodles
Sour cream for serving
Directions:
Step 1: In a small mixing bowl, add the cabbage and salt. Toss until well mixed, then let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Step 2: Squeeze the cabbage and remove as many liquids as you can.
Step 3: Place a deep skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Step 4: Add the butter and allow it to melt.
Step 5: Add the cabbage, onion, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
Step 6: Reduce the heat to low and cook for 25 to 30 minutes or until the cabbage becomes brown. Make sure to stir from time to time.
Step 7: Add in the noodles and toss until well combined with the rest of the ingredients.
Step 8: Remove from the heat and transfer it onto a clean plate.
Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
I love serving this Hungarian Cabbage and Noodles with cheesecloth drained sour cream.
You can always add Kielbasa to this dish if you want.
