Ingredients
3 tbsp honey
1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
¼ tsp crushed chilli flakes (optional)
1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced (about 1 tbsp)
¾ lb medium uncooked shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 tbsp olive oil
salt, to taste
ground black pepper, to taste
2 tbsp sliced green onion (optional garnish)
cooked brown rice (to serve)
broccoli or other veggies (to serve)
How to make Honey Garlic Shrimp
Step 1: In a medium bowl, add the honey, soy sauce, chilli flakes (optional), ginger, and garlic. Whisk well, then set aside.
Step 2: Add the shrimp and olive oil in a different medium bowl. Season with salt and ground pepper, then toss to coat.
Step 3: Add the shrimp in an even layer in a heated pan over medium-high heat. Cook for about a minute or two on one side until nicely seared. Turn and continue to cook the other side for a minute more until just cooked and the centre is still translucent.
Step 4: Add the honey garlic marinade to the pan and cook for another minute. Or take the shrimps out of the pan first, then add the sauce so the shrimps don’t overcook. Cook until the sauce is a bit thick, keeping an eye so it won’t burn.
Step 5: Once done, remove from the heat. Serve the shrimp with the sauce over brown rice and veggies. If desired, garnish with green onion. Enjoy!
