Homemade Peach Cobbler

by Rebecca August 26, 2021

Prep time: 20 mins | Cook time: 35 mins | Serves: 5

If you love a good crust and juicy peaches, then this homemade Peach Cobbler will give you both! It’s a pretty neat recipe I got from a friend. She said it’s her family’s recipe originally from her grandmother. I love these kinds of recipes because they have a story behind them. You should give this a try soon. It’s an easy, fast, and impressive cobbler that I’m sure your family will love!

Ingredients

5 c ripe juicy peaches, sliced

1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/4 stick butter

BISCUIT TOP:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 stick butter

1/2 cup milk

How to make Homemade Peach Cobbler

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 425 degrees F.

Step 2: Onto boiling water, dip the peaches for about a minute. Slip the skins off, then slice the peaches into wedges, discarding the pits. In a 9-inch or 10-inch baking dish or casserole, place the peaches.

Step 3: Place the sugar, cornstarch, vanilla, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix using a fork, then sprinkle this over the peaches and dot with butter. On top, lay the rolled-out biscuit dough to cover.

Step 4: Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut the shortening. Add the milk, stirring using a fork until the dough clings together. To 1/4-inch thickness, pat or roll the dough out. Place it over the peaches, crimping and fluting the edges to seal. Slice steam vents in the middle.

Step 5: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, adjust the oven temperature to 325 degrees F and bake for 15 minutes more until the peaches are done, and the top is golden.
