2 medium russet potatoes, shredded
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 cup of oil for frying, or as needed
salt and pepper to taste
HOW TO MAKE HASH BROWNS RECIPE
Step 1: Wash the shredded potatoes until water is clean. Drain and make sure to squeeze the potatoes dry. Transfer into a bowl and mix in the onion, flour, and egg. Combine until incorporated.
Step 2: In a heavy large skillet heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium-high heat. Place the potatoes about half a thick layer into the pan once the oil is already sizzling hot. Make sure to separate quantities like pancakes.
Step 3: Cook the potatoes for about 5 minutes until the bottom is nicely browned. Flip them over to cook the other side. You can cook the potatoes in one big piece and just cut it into quarters.
Step 4: Once the potatoes are browned on both sides, remove them from the pan and transfer to paper towels to drain. Before serving season them with salt and pepper. Enjoy!
