INGREDIENTS
1 pound grass-fed or lean ground beef
10 cloves garlic, chopped
1 medium-size onion, small diced
4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons mirin
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon plum extract(you can substitute to apricot jam)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cooking oil
3 to 5 green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon sesame oil
How to make Ground Beef Bulgogi
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, garlic, onion, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, plum extract, and black pepper. Marinating is not required simply because we are using ground beef, however, if you’d like, you can marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2: Heat the cooking oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Swirl the oil to coat the bottom of the skillet. Once hot, add the ground beef mixture to the skillet and stir fry, breaking the meat into little pieces. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes until no moisture is left and completely cooked, stirring occasionally.
Step 3: Toss in the chopped green onions once the moisture from the beef is all gone and you hear a sizzling sound. Turn the heat off and quickly add the sesame seeds and oil. Toss once more.
Step 4: Before serving, garnish with more sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve over warm cooked rice, cauliflower rice, quinoa, or your preferred starch. Enjoy!
