This Granny’s Classic Meatloaf never gets old! I’ve been making this for years now. My family and I are still in love with it to this day! Everything about this is perfect. From the meatloaf itself to the topping, you will surely love it!

Ingredients:

Meatloaf:

1 tsp thyme

1 c panko bread crumbs

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 tsp kosher salt

1 large Egg

2 lbs. ground beef

1 c milk

1 medium-sized onion (diced)

1 tbsp butter

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Topping:

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp spicy brown mustard

½ c ketchup

Directions:

Prepare the oven and preheat it to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.

Line parchment paper onto a baking sheet.

Place a pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add butter and allow it to melt. Add the onions, then sauté for a few minutes until a bit caramelized.

Add the garlic, then sauté just until aromatic.

Remove the pan from the heat and let the sauteed veggies cool for a few minutes.

Add ground beef, salt, thyme, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, milk, bread crumbs, onion, and egg into a large bowl. Use your hands to mix everything until well incorporated. Transfer the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a meatloaf.

Create crisscross patterns over the meatloaf with a knife. Bake the meatloaf for about 40 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, add ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Stir to mix, then brush the meatloaf with it. Bake for another half an hour.

Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes:

Make sure not to overmix the meatloaf. Mix it just until it comes together.

I recommend the use of an instant-read thermometer to check the doneness of the meatloaf. It should read about 160 degrees C.
