GRANDMA’S FRESH APPLE CAKE

by Rebecca August 19, 2020

Prep time: 25 min | Cooking: 1 hr | Total: 1 hr and 25 min | Servings: 12 | Yield: 1 cake

A wonderful cake with an amazing combination of flavors and texture. The variety of fresh apples gave this cake away. This cake is simple yet it is so darn good. I love everything about it from the fresh apples to walnuts and raisins. This cake is dense and soft at the same time. Dust it with powdered sugar or eat it as is. It doesn’t matter because this cake is superb the way it is!

INGREDIENTS

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

¼ cup of vegetable oil

2 cups peeled and chopped apple

½ cup chopped walnuts

½ cup raisins

HOW TO MAKE GRANDMA’S FRESH APPLE CAKE

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C.

Step 2: Then, grease and flour a fluted tube pan or bundt pan.

Step 3: Sift the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl and set aside.

Step 4: In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, egg, and oil. Mix in the flour mixture until just combined before folding in the apple, walnuts, and raisins.

Step 5: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for approximately an hour. Check the doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake. When it comes out clean the cake is perfect!

NOTES:

You can use dates or any sort of chopped nut instead of raisins.

For an amazing apple cake, you may want to use varieties of apples for flavor and texture combination – sweet, sour, crisp, and gentle. Combine Honeycrisp and Granny Smith for a more tart cake and if you prefer a sweeter cake try Gala or Fuji.

This apple cake can stay fresh for up to 12 months and it can be thaw and serve at room temperature.
