Garlic Steak and Potato Foil Packs

by Rebecca September 28, 2021

Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 20 mins | Total Time: 30 mins | Servings: 4

This is a quick, hearty, healthy meal that you can either baked or grill. These amazing garlic Steak and Potato Foil Packs are a must and for keeps. Ready in less than thirty minutes and require only a few simple ingredients, this recipe is a sure winner!

Ingredients

3 tbsp olive oil

2-2 ½ lbs top sirloin steak – trimmed of fat and cut into 2 ½” pieces

1 lb baby yellow potatoes – quartered (or halved if they are already less than 1 inch in size)

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp onion powder

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tsp dried parsley

1 tsp dried oregano

fresh thyme or parsley for topping (optional)

salt and pepper, to taste (you can use about 1 tsp salt and ¼ tsp black pepper)

How to make Garlic Steak and Potato Foil Packs

Step 1: Place the steak, potatoes, olive oil, salt and pepper, garlic, and seasonings in a large bowl. Toss to coat the steak and potatoes.

Step 2: Between 12 x 12-inch foil sheets, divide the steak and potatoes. Tightly wrap the foil around the contents to make foil packets.

Step 3: Place the packets on the grill and cook on high heat for about 10 minutes per side or until the steak and potatoes are completely cooked. Alternately, you can bake the steak and potatoes for approximately 20 to 25 minutes at 425 degrees oven until cooked through.

Step 4: Serve the garlic steak and potato right away garnished with fresh thyme or parsley. Enjoy!

Notes:

For even cooking, ensure to slice the steak into at least 2 x 2-inch pieces while the potatoes into smaller than inch pieces.

To cook the potatoes faster once in the foil pack and for medium doneness on the steak, I suggest boiling the potatoes for five minutes, then add to the bowl and continue with the rest of the recipe.

To achieve that nice char on the steak, open the packets at the end and cook directly on the grill for a few minutes. If baking, turn the oven to broil, open the packets, and broil for a few minutes.
