This is a super fun recipe that boosts your egg in a hole game! Our good old favourite breakfast companion, french toast and egg in one.
This Egg-In-A-Hole French Toast is my family’s favourite Sunday brunch. I always make this with my kids helping me out. They cut the holes on the bread, dunk them in the eggs and milk mixture, and I do the rest. Cracking the eggs into each bread hole never failed to amaze me. It’s like magic, they expressed always.

INGREDIENTS
4 slices bread, preferably stale
4 tablespoons butter, divided
8 large eggs, divided
1/2 cup milk
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 cup shredded white Cheddar
1 tablespoon finely chopped chives, for garnish
How to make Egg-In-A-Hole French Toast
Step 1: Cut a big hole from the middle of each bread slice using a small glass or biscuit cutter. Then, toast the centres to use as dippers.
Step 2: Melt 2 tbsp butter in a large nonstick pan over medium heat.
Step 3: In the meantime, add 4 eggs and milk in a large bowl. Whisk to combine. To taste, season with salt and pepper. Then, stir in the cheese. Into this mixture, dunk the slices of bread. Once coated, shake the excess off, and place the slice in the hot pan. Do this for the rest, making sure to work in batches as to not overcrowd the pan.
Step 4: Cook the bread slices for about 2 minutes until golden. Flip the slices, then crack an egg into each slice. With salt and pepper, season the egg and continue to cook for another 4 minutes over medium heat until the eggs are cooked to your preference.
Step 5: When done, take away from the heat. Garnish with chives and serve the toasts warm with the reserved toasted centres. Enjoy!
