Easy Homemade Sloppy Joes

I only have one complaint about this recipe, it’s too delicious for only four servings! Seriously, this is too good for only a few servings because it goes super quickly without a trace. Made with real ingredients with the perfect balance of texture and flavours, this is without a doubt the best homemade Sloppy Joe!

If you love sloppy joe that much I like of course I do, then this is a must! A quick and easy recipe that takes under twenty minutes to come together with ingredients that you mostly have on hand. This is most perfect if you are in a hurry or so tired to prep a meal. And Say goodbye to the store-bought canned sauce because this family-friendly meal you can effortlessly make from scratch. Nothing beats the classic!

Ingredients

1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

1 lb lean ground beef

1 small sweet onion, diced

1/2 small green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp tomato paste

1/2 c. ketchup

1/3 c. water

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp yellow mustard

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

Toasted buns, for serving

How to make Easy Homemade Sloppy Joes

Step 1: In a large skillet, warm the oil over medium-high heat. Add in the beef, onion, and bell pepper. Using a wooden spoon, break the meat and cook for about 5 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the veggies are tender. Add in the garlic, stir, and cook for another 30 seconds until aromatic. Then, drain the grease off.

Step 2: Add in the tomato paste and stir until completely incorporated.

Step 3: Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Step 4: Continue to cook for 10 minutes more over medium heat until the mixture has thickened.

Step 5: Take away from heat, then serve the Sloppy Joes on toasted buns. Enjoy!
