1/2 small green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp tomato paste

1/2 c. ketchup

1/3 c. water

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp yellow mustard

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

How to make Easy Homemade Sloppy Joes

Step 1: In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the beef, onion, and bell pepper to the skillet. With a wooden spoon, break the meat into crumbles and cook for about 5 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the veggies are tender. Then, stir in the garlic and continue to cook for another 30 seconds until aromatic. Drain the grease off when done. Now, add in the tomato paste and stir until incorporated.

Step 2: At this point, add the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and cook for 10 minutes more over medium heat until the mixture has thickened.

Step 3: Turn the heat off when done and serve the Sloppy Joes on toasted buns. Enjoy!
