Prep this in just ten minutes, leave, and come back to a filling meal. The combination of hash brown potatoes, smoked sausages, onions, and cheese is pretty amazing. Crockpot Hashbrown Casserole with Smoked Sausage is a simple but impressive dish perfect for feeding the crowd or to bring to potlucks.

Ingredients

homemade cream of chicken condensed soup

1 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

1 c. water

1 c. whole milk

2 tsp chicken bouillon paste

1/2 tsp thyme

1/2 tsp poultry seasoning

salt & pepper to taste

Other ingredients:

32 oz. hash browns 1 bag defrosted

14 oz. smoked sausage diced

1 small onion diced

1 1/2 c. cheddar cheese grated

How to make Crockpot Hashbrown Casserole with Smoked Sausage

Step 1: In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Once melted, sprinkle in the flour, whisk, and cook for about a minute. Pour in the water and stir until there are no lumps. Let it simmer until thick before whisking in the milk, chicken bouillon paste, and seasonings. At this point, the sauce should be a bit thick. Adjust the seasoning according to taste, then set aside.

Step 2: In a lightly greased crockpot, place the hashbrowns, smoked sausage, onion, and cheese. Pour the condensed soup over. Stir to combine. Cover the crockpot, set on high, and cook for 3 hours until the potatoes are tender and the sausages are hot.

Step 3: Serve and enjoy!

Note:

In case you don’t find chicken bouillon paste just use powdered or cubed. Alternately, you can use a mix of a cup of chicken stock with an extra half tsp poultry seasoning.
