1 cup milk
1 large Egg
1 cup self-rising flour
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons chicken-flavoured base
3/4 teaspoon black pepper or to taste
oil for frying ( use canola)
How to make Crispy Southern Fried Pork Chops
Step 1: Wash the pork chops and pat dry. On a cutting board, place the pork chops and pound both sides using a meat mallet.
Step 2: Add the egg and milk to a bowl and whisk using a fork until smooth.
Step 3: Place the flour, chicken-flavoured base, and seasonings in a different bowl and mix well.
Step 4: In the flour mixture, dredge the pork chops, then dip in the milk and egg mixture and roll again in the flour mixture.
Step 5: In a heavy skillet or cast-iron chicken fryer, heat about an inch of oil. Add 2 to 3 pork chops at a time in the hot oil and fry for about 3 to 5 minutes on each side until golden and the juices run clear. Transfer the pork chops to a serving platter when done. Do the same for the rest of the pork chops.
Step 6: Serve the pork chops immediately with your favourite side dishes. Enjoy!
Note:
The chicken flavoured base is a moist powder that is available in most grocery stores. You can find them in the soup/bullion aisle.
