Ingredients
1 lb chicken thighs cut into 1-inch chunks
1/3 c. cornstarch
1/2 c. canola oil
3 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp ginger minced
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Sauce:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 c. honey
zest of one large lemon
1/2 lemon juiced
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp cornstarch
Garnish:
green onions
sesame seeds
lemon zest
How to make Crispy Honey Lemon Chicken
Step 1: Place the chicken thighs and cornstarch in a large bowl or Ziplock bag and toss to coat. Set aside.
Step 2: To a bowl, add the sauce ingredients, whisk to combine, and set aside.
Step 3: To a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken to the pan once the oil is hot and fry the chicken until crispy. When done, set the chicken aside and discard the oil, leaving only a tbsp to the pan.
Step 4: To the oil in the pan, cook the garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes for about 30 seconds over low heat until the garlic is aromatic, stirring endlessly.
Step 5: Return the chicken to the pan and toss.
Step 6: Before pouring the sauce into the pan, give it a quick stir. Toss the chicken to coat with the sauce and heat for about 30 seconds to a minute until the sauce has thickened.
