Creamed Potatoes

Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 20 mins | Serves: 6

This is another comfort food we enjoy so much. Made with potatoes and other pantry ingredients and ready in less than thirty minutes. Pair these creamed potatoes with any meat dish for a deliciously filling meal that your family will surely enjoy. This recipe is no doubt a must and to keep. If you have not tried this, you should soon!

My grandma used to tell me stories about travel and food. She’s a writer, and she loved good food. She travels to write. I think that is where my mom and I get our love for food. Whenever we go places, the first thing we try is the food.

This recipe will always be closed to my heart. It’s my granny’s recipe. Super simple made with only a few ingredients. Very comforting and definitively family approved!

Ingredients

2 pounds potatoes, (about 6) peeled and cubed, about an inch size

1/4 cup flour

3 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2 cups milk

Pinch nutmeg

fresh minced parsley

How to make Creamed Potatoes

Step 1: Place the potatoes in a large saucepan and cover them with water. Bring to a boil, then decrease the heat and continue to cook for approximately 15 minutes until fork tender.

Step 2: Melt the butter in a different saucepan. Once melted, stir in the flour salt, pepper, nutmeg until smooth. Slowly whisk in the milk, then bring the mixture to a boil. Continue cooking, stirring constantly until thickened.

Step 3: Drain the potatoes when done and transfer them to a serving dish. Over the potatoes, pour the cream mixture and lightly toss to coat. Garnish with some fresh parsley before serving. If desired, you can add sliced sweet onion to the potatoes while cooking. This adds extra flavour to the potatoes.
