Cowboy Baked Beans

by Rebecca April 27, 2020

This Pandemic has taught me a lot of things and one of those is to be resourceful when it comes to the food source. This recipe is not only easy and simple to make but it is also a very cheap dish. Who would have thought that canned baked beans could be something so fancy looking dish to eat? I kid you not. When I first ate this, it tasted like something you can order at a Michelin Starred restaurant. Okay, maybe I’m overselling it but trust me, this will blow your mind and your taste buds! Because malls and groceries are closed, I needed to come up with something amazing that is available at home. I needed my husband and kids not to miss those restaurants and take-outs. So, the good thing is that we actually have these ingredients. Awesome! I remember my son pouting at first when I told him that what we had for dinner was canned baked beans. Little did he know that it was a completely modified version of canned baked beans. He was so surprised that it was really good! Check your drawers and fridge if you have these ingredients because if you do, oh boy, You are in for a treat!

Ingredients

1 28 oz of can baked beans

6 slices of cooked bacon chopped in 1/4 inch pieces

1/2 red onion diced

1/4 cup ketchup

1/4 cup yellow mustard

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp molasses

2 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Ready the oven and preheat to 350 degrees C.

Add all the ingredients in an oven-safe baking dish. (Casserole dish, Cast iron pan, etc.) Stir until all the ingredients are completely incorporated.

Let it sit in the oven for 1 hour to bake to perfection. Stir halfway through to the cooking process. In a slow cooker, set the time to 4 hours for high and 8 hours for low.

Best served hot!
