This old-fashioned dish is one of my favourite classic recipes. It’s tested by time and never fails to bring smiles to our faces. And it’s the perfect meal to whip up even on the busiest days. This hearty Classic Goulash is made with ground beef, bell pepper, onions, and elbow macaroni in a seasoned tomato sauce and ready in no more than forty minutes. This is a super versatile recipe, too. If you desire extra flavours, you can easily add additional spices such as paprika, even vegetables like mushrooms or spinach. You can also use the leftover marinara sauce to make this. Bring this scrumptious dish to potlucks, and I am pretty sure everyone will be asking for more! This is without a doubt a crowd-pleaser and favourite of many. Made this a gazillion times already, and it’s always a blast!

2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
2 yellow onions, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
3 c. water
29 oz. tomato sauce
29 oz. diced tomatoes
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp kosher salt
8 oz. elbow macaroni, uncooked
How to make Classic Goulash
Step 1: To a large dutch oven, cook the ground beef with onions, bell peppers, and garlic over medium-high heat for approximately 5 to 7 minutes, breaking the meat apart until no longer pink.
Step 2: When done, drain most of the grease. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot except for the macaroni. Bring everything to a boil, then adjust the heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes, covered.
Step 3: Take the lid off and add the macaroni. Mix well, replace the lid, and simmer for another 20 minutes, stirring often.
Step 4: Serve immediately when done. Enjoy!
