I love french toast even before this recipe. It’s a staple at breakfast. There are tons of french toast recipes online and seriously most of them give us the same result. And what’s amazing about those recipes including this is it’s pretty much bendable. We can change it according to our preference. But this recipe is so simple, honest, and quick to make with only a few ingredients already sitting inside our cupboards. And my family loves this Cinnamon Sugar French Toast that it’s been forever since we’ve tried other variations. Enjoy this with your favourite fruits in the morning to jump-start your day!

6 Eggs
2 c. whole milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 c. granulated sugar
4 tbsp butter room temperature, divided
1/4 c. light brown sugar divided
How to make Cinnamon Sugar French Toast
Step 1: Place the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl, then whisk to combine.
Step 2: Spread a little less than a tbsp of butter over one slice of bread and sprinkle with a few tsp of brown sugar, enough to cover the whole top of the bread. In a buttered 13 x 9-inch baking dish, lay the bread. Do this with the rest.
Step 3: Over the bread, pour the egg mixture. Tent and place in the fridge for at least 2 to 3 hours or overnight.
Step 4: When ready, place the baking dish in a 350 degrees F oven and bake for about 35 to 40 minutes until the top of the bread is golden brown.
Step 5: Remove from the oven when done and sprinkle over with powdered sugar and/or maple syrup.
