Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 10 mins | Total Time: 30 mins | Yield: 4 Servings

Let’s forget take-out and cook this easily throw this Chinese chicken and broccoli at home. All you need are a few readily available ingredients, and this amazing dish is ready in no time!

Tender chicken thighs with broccoli in a savoury Chinese brown sauce. Just like your favourite beef and broccoli, but made of chicken. This is so much better than take-out!

Ingredients

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

6 boneless chicken thighs skinless

1 large head of Broccoli cut into florets

3 cloves garlic peeled and finely chopped

1” piece of ginger peeled and chopped

2 tablespoons Hoisin Sauce or oyster sauce for less sweetness

6 tablespoons honey approximately

3 tablespoons light soy sauce (extra to taste)

6 tablespoons hot water

3 green/spring onions trimmed and sliced

HOW TO MAKE CHINESE CHICKEN AND BROCCOLI

Step 1: Heat a little olive oil in a wok over medium heat. Add the broccoli to the wok once the oil is hot and cook until just tender. When done, set the broccoli aside.

Step 2: Drizzle more oil in the same wok. Add the chicken thighs and cook until both sides are brown. Transfer the chicken to a clean plate when done.

Step 3: Now, add the ginger in the now-empty wok along with the ginger, garlic, and spring onion. Cook until the garlic is fragrant. Return the chicken thighs to the wok and add the hoisin sauce, hot water, and soy sauce. Stir it and let the mixture come to a boil.

Step 4: Drizzle a little honey and put the lid on. Continue to cook for additional 10 minutes or until the chicken is done and the sauce has reduced.

Step 5: Uncover and add the broccoli. Toss to coat and cook for a couple of minutes more.

Step 6: Remove from the heat when done and serve the Chinese chicken and broccoli right away. Enjoy!
