This is a traditional “Chinese” style stir-frying recipe with beef, onion, green peppers, and ground black pepper. A simple 20-minute dish with layers of flavours. Super amazing Chinese Black Pepper Beef and delicious and great to pair with noodles or steamed rice.

200 grams beef steak, cut into small strips
Marinating:
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon light soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine, Shaoxing wine
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1.5 tablespoon oyster sauce
2 teaspoon corn starch
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
Side Ingredients:
2 fresh green peppers, remove the seeds and finely shredded
2 garlic cloves
1/4 red onion, shredded
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
vegetable cooking oil, as needed
How to make Chinese Black Pepper Beef
Step 1: Into 1 cm wide strips cut the beefsteak. Combine the Marinating ingredients (soy sauce, oyster sauce, pepper, sugar, Chinese cooking wine, and cornstarch) except for the sesame oil until well mixed. Add the beef strips and leave to marinate for at least 15 minutes. Before frying, mix in the sesame oil.
Step 2: In a large pan, add the cooking oil just enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Once the oil is hot, add the beef strips to the pan, spreading the beef. Allow them to lay undisturbed for about 5 to 6 seconds before stirring the strips a couple of times until the colour changed. When done, set the beef aside, leaving about a tbsp oil in the pan.
Step 3: Now, fry the garlic until fragrant. Add the green peppers and red onion and fry until they are slightly softened. Season with a small pinch of salt. Then, add the beef strips back to the pan. Stir and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper.
Step 4: When done, remove from the heat and serve immediately with noodles or steamed rice. Enjoy!
