by Rebecca June 8, 2021

PREP TIME: 10 MINS | TOTAL TIME: 35 MINS | YIELDS: 6

Not your traditional dish but super tasty and insanely crunchy! The cauliflower florets are tossed and completely coated with a tempura-like batter and fried to perfection. And the wing-like crispy florets are tossed in a garlic-chilli sauce. Make sure to enjoy this right away to experience the crunch factor that everyone is raving about!

Loosely inspired by Korean Fried Chicken Wings, this Chili Garlic Fried Cauliflower is the top pick of many of my guests and friends and the perfect appetizer. A breeze to make with a few simple ingredients. If you long want to try something new, this is it! Freaking delicious, you’ll certainly make this again and again!

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup ice water

1 Egg, beaten

Kosher salt

Vegetable oil, for frying

1 head cauliflower, cut into florets

1/3 cup chilli garlic sauce

2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon grated ginger

2 tablespoons sesame seeds

2 green onions, thinly sliced

How to make Chili Garlic Fried Cauliflower

Step 1: Place the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder in a large bowl and whisk to combine. Stir in the ice water, egg, and a tsp salt until incorporated and you have a thin batter.

Step 2: Heat about 1/4-inch vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3: Meanwhile, in the batter, toss the cauliflower until completely coated.

Step 4: Once the oil is hot, add the cauliflower to the skillet in batches and cook for approximately 4 minutes on each side until golden. When done, transfer on paper towels to drain. If needed, season with extra salt. Repeat with the rest of the cauliflower.

Step 5: Add the garlic-chilli sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and ginger in a medium bowl and whisk to combine. Add in the fried cauliflower and toss to coat. Before serving, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!
