I cannot help but crave these cheesy scalloped potatoes always. I love how the gooey cheese covered every nook and crannies of the potatoes for the cheesy goodness that is super hard to resist. Made with only seven ingredients and ready in no time, these amazing cheesy scalloped potatoes are the definition of perfection!
It is our family’s tradition to serve these cheesy scalloped potatoes every Thanksgiving. It started with my grandparents and passed on to my mom, then me. This dish is without a doubt, seriously amazing and the best cheesy scalloped potatoes you’ll ever have!

INGREDIENTS
3 tbsp butter
1 onion, sliced into rings
4 russet potatoes, sliced into 1/4” slices
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
½ tsp kosher salt
2 c. whole milk
salt and pepper to taste
1½ c. shredded Cheddar cheese
How to make Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C.
Step 2: Grease an 8 x 8-inch casserole dish.
Step 3: In the prepared baking dish, arrange the potatoes and onions, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Step 4: Melt the butter in a medium-size saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and salt to the melted butter, whisking using a whisk for about a minute. Pour in the milk and stir until blended. Continue to cook until the mixture has thickened.
Step 5: Add the cheese to the pan and cook, stirring constantly for about 30 to 60 minutes or until melted and smooth.
Step 6: Over the potatoes, pour the cheese. Then, tent the dish with aluminium foil.
Step 7: Place in the preheated oven and bake the potatoes for about 1 1/2 hours. Then, broil for about 5 minutes for a crisp topping.
Step 8: Remove from the oven when done and serve with any of your holiday favourites. Enjoy!
