Ingredients

Crust:

2 1/4 teaspoons yeast

1 c warm water

2 teaspoons sugar

2-2 1/2 c flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

Filling:

8 ounces cream cheese softened

2 c chicken cooked and diced

2 c broccoli steamed and cooled, chopped

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 c cheese shredded, divided

Egg

1 teaspoon water

sea salt

HOW TO MAKE CHEESY CHICKEN BROCCOLI BRAID

Step 1: In warm water with sugar in a medium bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes or until bubbly.

Step 2: To make a soft dough, combine the flour, salt, and olive oil,

Step 3: Slowly add in the flour until you reach a dough consistency.

Step 4: Place the dough in a greased bowl and allow to rise for about 30 minutes.

Step 5: In the meantime, ready the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.

Step 6: In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, chicken, broccoli, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half a cup of cheese.

Step 7: Check the dough. Once it has risen, punch it down gently. On a piece of parchment paper/Silpat, roll the dough to make a rough 15 x 20-inches rectangle.

Step 8: In the middle of the dough, spread the chicken and broccoli mixture. Sprinkle with the rest of the cheese on top.

Step 9: Diagonally slice into inch strips with a pizza cutter or sharp knife from the outside of the rectangle to the centre.

Step 10: Make a braid pattern by folding the strips over the filling in alternating sides. Tuck the ends when you reach the end of the braid.

Step 11: Transfer the parchment or Silpat to a baking sheet.

Step 12: Brush the braid with a lightly beaten egg with water and sprinkle with a bit of salt.

Step 13: Place inside the preheated oven. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until light golden brown.
