Perfect for breakfast or after school snack. This Cast Iron Patty Melt is satisfying in every bite. Stuffed with simple yet flavorful sauce, patty, and cheese – this simple sandwich is an excellent grab-and-go breakfast for busy days.

Ingredients

2 large sweet onions, peeled, halved, and thinly sliced

8 tbsp unsalted butter, divided

1/3 c mayonnaise

2 tbsp ketchup

1/2 tsp yellow mustard

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp ground black pepper

4 Chop House by Holten Angus Sirloin Steak Burgers

8 slices thick-cut sourdough or rye bread

4 slices medium cheddar cheese

4 slices Swiss cheese

How to make Cast Iron Patty Melt

Step 1: Melt 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Once melted, saute the onions while occasionally stirring over low heat for about 30 minutes or until golden and soft.

Step 2: To prepare the sauce, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper and set aside.

Step 3: Heat 2 tbsp butter in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties following the package direction. When done, remove the cooked patties from the skillet and wipe it clean.

Step 4: To assemble the sandwich: Spread on one side of each 8 slices of bread the sauce. Split the onions between the 4 slices and top individually with a burger patty, a slice of cheese, and a slice of bread.

Step 5: In a skillet, add 2 tbsp butter and heat over medium-low heat. Swirl the pan to coat evenly with the melted butter. Place the sandwiches and cook one side until golden brown. Add the rest of the 2 tbsp butter and cook the other side of the sandwiches. Move them around to coat with butter and continue to cook until golden brown.

Step 6: Once done, serve the sandwiches immediately. Enjoy!
