1 tbsp kosher salt
8 oz penne pasta
1 lb raw shrimp (deveined, cleaned, tail removed)
2 tbsp cajun seasoning
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1 c heavy cream
½ c parmesan cheese
How to make Cajun Shrimp Pasta
Step 1: Bring to a boil a pot of salted water. Add the pasta and cook until al dente. Reserve at least half a cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
Step 2: Meanwhile, in a bowl toss the shrimp with cajun seasoning.
Step 3: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 4: In a single layer, add the shrimp to the skillet and cook both sides until golden brown. If needed, cook the shrimp in two batches. Place the cooked shrimps on a clean plate, then adjust the heat to medium-low.
Step 5: Add the heavy cream to the pan and scrape the bottom. Let the cream bubble before adjusting the heat to low.
Step 6: Stir in the cheese and allow to melt.
Step 7: Add in the cooked pasta and shrimp. Stir to coat. Add the pasta water, a tbsp at a time until the sauce reached the desired consistency.
Notes:
Add salt in small amounts as a store-bought cajun seasoning already contains salt. Season to your liking.
