by Rebecca September 4, 2021

PREP TIME: 10 MINS | COOK TIME: 10 MINS | TOTAL TIME: 20 MINS | SERVES: 4 people

No marinating is required, but still, these steak bites are guaranteed flavorful. Incredibly easy to throw together and ready in less than twenty minutes. These pan-seared steak bites with crispy edges sure will be your new favourite. If you have Cajun seasoning ready, you can easily make this. If not, see the ingredients below to make a homemade Cajun seasoning.

INGREDIENTS

Cajun Seasoning:

1 tbsp mild paprika

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp chilli powder, add more if you like heat

3/4 tsp dried thyme

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp brown sugar KETO: use a brown sugar substitute

1/2-3/4 tsp cayenne pepper, add more if you like heat

1/4 tsp cracked black pepper to taste

Steak:

23 ounces (650 grams) steak, cut into 2” cubes (Sirloin, Rump, New York Strip, Porterhouse or Ribeye)

1-2 tbsp canola oil, divided

1/4 c. butter

4 cloves garlic finely chopped

HOW TO MAKE CAJUN BUTTER STEAK BITES

Step 1: In a shallow bowl, mix the Cajun seasoning ingredients (mild paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chilli powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and black pepper). Then, add the steak bites and toss until evenly coated.

Step 2: In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak bites to the skillet and sear in batches for about 2 to 3 minutes per side until the edges are browned and crispy. As needed, add more oil to the pan. Set the steak bites aside when done.

Step 3: Adjust the heat to medium before adding the butter to the skillet. Add the chopped garlic to the melted butter and saute for approximately 30 seconds until aromatic, scraping any browned bits from the pan.

Step 4: When done, remove the pan from the heat, then return the steak bites and toss in the garlic butter until evenly coated. Enjoy!

NOTE:

You can use homemade Cajun seasoning from scratch or 3 tbsp of store-bought if desired. Just ensure to use a low sodium brand.
