by Rebecca April 2, 2021

PREP TIME: 10 mins | COOK TIME: 1 hr | SERVINGS: 24 CHICKEN WINGS

Don’t look further, this here is the best Buffalo Hot Wings recipe you’ll ever need! Coated in a flavorful rub and smothered in honey, molasses, and honey hot wings sauce, these wings will fly off the plate in just a blink of an eye!

INGREDIENTS

24 chicken wings with skin rinsed and patted dry (approx 3 lbs)

RUB:

2 tbsp baking powder

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tsp salt

2 tsp black pepper

2 tsp garlic powder

2 tsp onion powder

2 tsp smoked paprika

2 tsp chilli powder

2 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp ground celery seed

TRADITIONAL BUFFALO HOT WINGS SAUCE:

(Hot sauce unites with a touch of molasses for the traditional hot wings flavour)

2/3 c. Frank’s ORIGINAL Hot Sauce (NOT hot wings sauce) mixed with 2 tsp cornstarch

1 tbsp molasses

1 tbsp butter

BUFFALO HONEY HOT WINGS SAUCE:

(Honey is the dominant ingredient in this sauce for sticky hot wings while still being hot by using Hot WINGS sauce)

2-3 tbsp Frank’s Hot WINGS Sauce (NOT original hot sauce like above) mixed with 2 tsp cornstarch

1/2 c. honey

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp molasses

BUFFALO MILD HONEY HOT WINGS:

2/3 c. Frank’s ORIGINAL Hot Sauce (NOT hot wings sauce) mixed with 2 tsp cornstarch

1/4 c. honey

1 tbsp molasses

1 tbsp butter

1-3 tsp Hot Wings Sauce (Optional for hotter wings)

HOW TO MAKE BUFFALO HONEY HOT WINGS AND TRADITIONAL BUFFALO HOT WINGS

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.

Step 2: For easy cleanup, line a baking sheet with foil. With baking rack/oven-proof cooling rack, top the baking sheet and lightly grease with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3: Mix the Rub ingredients in a medium bowl. Then, to a large freezer bag, add half of the rub ingredients, then half of the wings, and shake to evenly coat. On the prepared baking rack, line the wing. Make sure to leave enough space so they are not touching. To the same freezer bag, add the rest of the Run and wings and do the same step.

Step 4: Bake for about 45 to 50 minutes on the upper-middle rack. Move the oven rack to about 6 to 8 inches from the broiler. Broil the wings to desired crispiness. Flip the wings and broil the other side.

Step 5: In the meantime, melt the butter over medium heat. Add in the rest of the sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil while occasionally stirring. Reduce to a simmer and continue to cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened a bit. Add more hot sauce if you want a spicier sauce or extra honey for a sweeter sauce.

Step 6: Add the chicken to a large bowl and pour the sauce over. Using a spatula, toss gently until the wings are evenly coated.

Step 7: Serve the wings with your desired dip like Blue Cheese or Ranch Dip. Enjoy!
