This family-friendly dinner has a summer grilling vibe and so easy to throw together. With only simple ingredients, you can make these sweet, smokey, and perfectly juicy, Oven Baked BBQ Chicken anytime.
Ingredients
1 kg chicken thighs and legs With skin and bone-in
1 tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Paprika
½ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Pepper
¾ c. BBQ Sauce
How to Make the Best BBQ Chicken in the Oven
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.
Step 2: With foil, line a baking tray and set it aside.
Step 3: Pat dry the chicken with a kitchen towel.
Step 4: Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Step 5: On the prepared tray, arrange the pieces of chicken leaving a little space between them. Generously season both sides of the chicken with the above seasoning.
Step 6: Keeping the skin side up, bake the chicken for about 20 minutes in the middle rack.
Step 7: Take the tray out of the oven and adjust the heat to 425 degrees F.
Step 8: Generously brush the chicken with the BBQ sauce. Place the tray back in the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
Step 9: Coat the chicken again with the BBQ sauce. Bake for 10 minutes more until the juices run clear and the internal temperature of the chicken reads 165 degrees F.
Step 10: Broil the chicken for about 2 to 3 minutes in the upper rack for that extra charred effect on the skin.
Notes:
Do not contaminate the BBQ sauce. In another bowl, place half of the sauce.
Add a tbsp apple cider vinegar if the bottled BBQ sauce is too sweet.
