Ingredients
1 kg chicken thighs and legs With skin and bone-in
1 tsp Garlic Powder
½ tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Paprika
½ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Pepper
¾ c. BBQ Sauce
How to Make the Best BBQ Chicken in Oven
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F. And using foil, line a baking tray and set it aside.
Step 2: Using a kitchen towel, pat dries the chicken.
Step 3: Place all the dry ingredients (garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper) in a bowl. Mix well until everything is incorporated.
Step 4: On the prepared tray, arrange the chicken giving each a little space, then generously season with the seasoning mix on each side, keeping the skin side-up. Place in the preheated oven in the middle rack and bake for about 20 minutes. Remove the chicken from the oven after the time is up, then adjust the oven temperature to 425 degrees F.
Step 5: With the BBQ sauce, generously brush the chicken. Return to the oven and resume baking for additional 10 minutes. Coat the chicken again with the BBQ sauce and bake for 10 minutes more. The chicken is done when its internal temperature reached 165 degrees F, and the juices run clear.
Step 6: You can broil the chicken for an extra charred effect on the skin. Place the tray in the upper rack for about 2 to 3 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye to prevent the chicken from getting burned.
Notes:
Do not contaminate the BBQ sauce. Consume it right away if dipping the brush back. Or you can put half of it in another bowl.
You can add a tbsp apple cider vinegar to the sauce if the bottled BBQ sauce is too sweet.
