This simple recipe is pretty versatile. Flavorful and easy to make Beef and Cheese Empanada that you’ll love from the crunchy crust to the filling. You can follow the recipe as is with the same ingredients listed here or left the mustard out and add instead some Mexican oregano, cumin, and cayenne for a Mexican take. Or if you prefer an extra zing, you can add in tomatoes, black beans, frozen corn, and a spoonful of Greek yoghurt. Either way, these empanadas are deliciously satisfying!

1 tbsp olive oil
1 c. onion (150 grams), diced
1 pound ground beef (455 grams)
2 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
⅓ c. shredded cheddar cheese (35 grams)
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp yellow mustard
½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 sheets pie dough
TOPPING:
Egg

How to make Beef And Cheese Empanada
Step 1: In a large skillet, heat oil. Add the onion to the hot oil and cook the onions until translucent. Then, add in the meat, a tsp salt, and half tsp pepper. Continue to cook until the meat is cook through. When done, transfer the meat mixture into a large bowl.
Step 2: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C.
Step 3: Mix well the cheese, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and a tsp of salt until combined.
Step 4: Into 4 pieces, cut the rolled-out pie crust. On one side of the dough, add a spoonful of the stuffing, making sure to leave around 1/4-inch or 6mm space from the edge. Now, fold the dough over the filling to make a triangle. Then, crimp down the sides using a fork to ensure that the stuffing is intact.
Step 5: Place the empanadas onto a baking sheet and brush the tops with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown and the crust is completely cooked.
Step 6: When done, remove from the oven and allow the empanadas to cool for a couple of minutes.
