BEEF AND BROCCOLI RECIPE

by Rebecca August 18, 2021

Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 25 mins | Servings: 4

I mostly resort to taking out whenever I am too busy to whip up a proper meal. But with this easy Beef and Broccoli recipe, I can throw a nice, filling meal for my family even on my busiest schedule! And it’s a million better than take out!

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs flank steak thinly sliced against the grain

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp corn starch

1 tbsp Water

1/4 tsp baking soda

3 c. broccoli florets

1 tbsp canola oil

Sauce:

1/4 c. soy sauce low sodium

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp oyster sauce

6 cloves garlic minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger grated

1 tbsp toasted sesame oil

1/2 c. beef broth

2 tsp cornstarch

HOW TO MAKE BEEF AND BROCCOLI

Step 1: Against the grain, thinly slice the flank steak.

Step 2: Place a tbsp oyster sauce, a tbsp corn starch, a tbsp water, and 1/4 tsp baking dish in a large bowl. Whisk well until combined. Add the sliced meat and toss until completely coated. Set aside.

Step 3: In another bowl, combine the sauce ingredients and set them aside.

Step 4: Over medium-high heat, preheat a large skillet. Add a tbsp canola oil or your preferred oil. Once hot, sear the flank steak for about 2 minutes until the bottom has browned. Stir and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the beef has browned. You may need to do this in batches to not overcrowd the pan.

Step 5: To the pan, add the broccoli and sauce. Toss to coat everything. Then, put the lid on and continue to cook for 3 minutes more until the broccoli is bright green crisp-tender.

Step 6: Take off the heat and give it a final stir. Serve and enjoy!

Notes:

For this recipe, you can use a tbsp soy sauce mixed with 1 tbsp brown sugar to replace the oyster sauce.

When cutting the flank steak, make sure to slice against the grain.
