Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 25 mins | Servings: 4

Say goodbye to takeout and make this luscious beef and broccoli at home in a breeze! Super easy to throw together and ready in under thirty minutes. If you are a fan of Chinese food, this is a must! The extra tender beef and bright green and crisp-tender broccoli smothered in a savoury sauce are to die for!

Ingredients

1 tbsp canola oil

1 1/2 lbs flank steak thinly sliced against the grain

3 c. broccoli florets

1 tbsp corn starch

1/4 tsp baking soda

1 tbsp Water

1 tbsp oyster sauce

Sauce:

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1/4 c. soy sauce low sodium

6 cloves garlic minced

1 tbsp toasted sesame oil

1 tbsp fresh ginger grated

2 tsp cornstarch

1/2 c. beef broth

How to make Beef and Broccoli

Step 1: Against the grain, thinly slice the flank steak.

Step 2: Place 1 tbsp each oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, and 1/4 tsp baking soda in a large bowl. Whisk well until combined, then add the sliced meat and toss to coat. Set aside.

Step 3: Combine the sauce ingredients (brown sugar, oyster sauce, soy sauce, garlic, sesame seeds, ginger, cornstarch, and beef broth) and set aside.

Step 4: Drizzle a tbsp canola oil or your oil of choice in a hot large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the flank steak in batches and cook for about 2 minutes or until the bottom has browned. Stir and cook further until the beef is browned. This takes another 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 5: To the sauce in the pan, add the broccoli and stir to coat. Put the lid on and let the broccoli cook for about 3 minutes or until bright green and crisp-tender.

Step 6: When done, remove from the heat and give it a final stir. Serve and enjoy!

Notes:

Swap the oyster sauce with 1 tbsp of each soy sauce and brown sugar.

When cutting the flank steak, make sure to slice against the grain.
