This is the best banana cake recipe and the favourite of many. Moist and delicious with a heavenly cream cheese frosting, I screamed my heart out! A super simple, easy to bake a cake to satisfy your cravings.
I often buy bananas and forget about them. Only to find them aged on the counter. With this recipe, you don’t have to worry about what to do with those too ripe bananas anymore!
Ingredients
Banana Cake:
2 c all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 c butter, softened
1 1/3 c sugar
2 Eggs
1 c sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 medium bananas, mashed (about 2 c.)
Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 c butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 c powdered sugar
How to make Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Using a nonstick spray, grease two 8-inches cake pans right before filling.
Banana Cake:
Step 1: Put the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Beat until creamy.
Step 2: Add in the eggs and beat to incorporate.
Step 3: Stir in the sour cream and vanilla.
Step 4: Add the flour followed by baking soda and salt. Mix until just combined.
Step 5: Mix in the mashed banana until incorporated.
Step 6: Into the prepared cake pans, equally transfer the batter.
Step 7: Place inside the preheated oven. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
Step 1: Add the cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl. Beat until combined, then add in the vanilla.
Step 2: Slowly add in the powdered sugar, beating until smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Frost the cooled cake with the cream cheese frosting.
