Cookies are a must at my home. I have tons of cookie recipes that I have yet to try. My children love cookies that we have to have a stash of cookies in jars. Their top favourite are these soft with cake-like texture Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies made of a few ingredients and ready in less than thirty minutes! You can omit the nuts if you’d like, but my family prefers the extra crunch.

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup mashed bananas (about 2 medium bananas)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 stick butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
OPTIONAL:
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
How to make Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies
Step 1: In a small saute pan, melt the butter until brown and smells nutty. Take off the heat, then add the white and brown sugars. Allow this to sit for at least 5 minutes to cool.
Step 2: Once cool, pour the butter and sugar mixture into a large mixing bowl. Add the egg along with the vanilla. Then, stir in the banana and sour cream.
Step 3: Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a different bowl. Add the banana mixture and fold. Then, add the chocolate chips and nuts (if using). Mix until incorporated. Feel free to use your preferred additions like raisins, toffee bits, pecans, etc.
Step 4: For at least 30 minutes, chill the dough in the fridge. After the said time, remove the now sticky dough from the fridge, then drop an inch of cookie dough balls (about 1 1/2 tablespoons) to the cookie sheets two inches apart from each other. Place in 350 degrees preheated oven and bake for about 10 to 13 minutes until the edges of the cookies are brown.
