Baked Spaghetti & Meatballs

by Rebecca March 11, 2022

This baked spaghetti and meatballs are the best thing! It is comfort food at its finest. I wish I have known this recipe before.

This easy recipe covert meatballs into ordinary to extraordinary! The bubbly, hot, and gooey cheese on top of the flavour-packed meatballs and spaghetti is to die for! Darn good, this scrumptious dish climbed up to my favourite list fast! My family is obsessed with this for obvious reasons (very comforting, satisfying, and easy to pull off).

INGREDIENTS

1/2 yellow onion diced

3 cloves garlic crushed

Meatballs I used about 1 1/2 ounces homemade meatballs (meatballs were fully cooked)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

3/4 # spaghetti noodles

24 oz jar marinara sauce I used San Marzano Sauce

1/2 c. grated Parmesan

1-2 c. grated cheese I used half Colby-jack, half mozzarella

How to make Baked Spaghetti & Meatballs

Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium/low heat. Then, add the garlic and cook, stirring often, until the onions have softened.

Step 2: To the skillet, add the cooked meatballs followed by the marinara sauce and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Continue to cook for an additional 20 to 30 minutes over medium/low heat.

Step 3: Following the package directions, cook the spaghetti in a large pot with salted boiling water until al dente.

Step 4: Scoop the meatballs from the sauce using a large slotted spoon and set them aside.

Step 5: Into the marinara sauce, scoop the cooked spaghetti, and add about a half cup of the pasta water. Stir gently until the pasta is completely coated with the sauce.

Step 6: Over the spaghetti, add the cooked meatballs and top with the grated cheese and Parmesan cheese.

Step 7: Place in a preheated 350 degrees oven and bake for about 20 to 30 minutes or until hot, bubbly, and the cheese has melted.
