4 tablespoons butter melted
6 cod fillets
1/2 cup breadcrumbs seasoned
2 cloves garlic minced
1 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
Cream sauce:
2 cups whipping cream (or half and a half)
1 cup milk
kosher salt to taste
3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese grated
3 tablespoons butter
black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons cornstarch
How to make Baked Cod in Cream Sauce
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees.
Step 2: Ready the cream sauce. Set aside and keep warm.
Step 3: Using cooking spray, grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Lay the cod fillets in it and sprinkle with salt.
Step 4: Whisk the melted butter with garlic until blended, then brush it on the fillets, setting any leftovers aside. Over the fillets, sprinkle the seasoned breadcrumbs and pour the rest of the butter mixture on top.
Step 5: In the spaces between the cod fillets, pour the cream sauce, filling up the baking dish, so only the tops of the fillets are insight.
Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the cream sauce begins bubbling. Then, set the oven to broil for about 3 to 5 minutes or until the fillets begin to get golden brown.
Step 7: When done, take the baked cod from the oven and serve with potatoes, rice, or vegetables. Enjoy!
Cream sauce:
Step 8: In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Gradually add the cornstarch and stir for a minute.
Step 9: Gradually add in the whipping cream and milk while still stirring until well blended before whisking in the Parmesan cheese.
Step 10: Adjust the heat to low and continue to cook for additional 10 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce is rich and creamy. If needed, you can add extra milk. To taste, season with salt and pepper.
