Ingredients

Meatballs:

1 1/2 lbs ground pork

2 tablespoons minced sweet or red onion

2 large cloves garlic minced

1 teaspoon minced ginger

1/2 tablespoon sesame oil

Kosher salt & pepper

Ginger Garlic Sauce:

3 tablespoons sesame oil

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 tablespoon minced ginger

1 1/2 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

2 tablespoons honey

1-2 tablespoons Chili with Garlic Sauce depends on how much you enjoy the heat

1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

Cilantro for garnish

How to make Asian Pork Meatballs

Meatballs:

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the meatballs ingredients (ground pork, sweet or red onion, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and salt & pepper). Form the mixture into balls. It is fine if the mixture is wet, just make sure to get them to hold together. On a baking sheet, place the balls and set them aside.

Step 2: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees.

Step 3: Fry the meatballs in about 2 to 3 tbsp olive or grapeseed oil until nicely browned. Transfer them to a baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven. Bake for about 10 minutes until cooked through.

Spicy Ginger-Honey Sauce:

Step 4: Combine the sesame oil, garlic, and ginger in a frying pan with sides and saute for about a minute or two until aromatic. Add the vinegar, honey, and chilli with garlic sauce. Bring the sauce to a boil. Add the cornstarch and stir until incorporated and the sauce has thickened. Adjust the seasoning according to taste.

Step 5: In the pan with the sauce, place the meatballs. Before serving, garnish with some cilantro leaves if desired. Enjoy!

Notes:

Feel free to add breadcrumbs if desired to stretch the meat a bit further.

Gently move the meatballs around the pan and double or triple the glaze if desired.
