Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 35 mins | Serves: 10-12

My mornings will never be complete without a cup of my favourite coffee. The aroma while brewing wakes my senses up. Anything coffee is a must in my life! Thus, this Apple Pie Filling Coffee Cake. My morning addiction and even perfect for overnight company. Whip this up using only a few simple ingredients in less than an hour. No more running to the grocery store for doughnuts or coffee, simply throws this together in a breeze!

This is an easy cake recipe that starts with a cake mix. The addition of cinnamon pumps up the flavour of this cake. On top of the batter are dollops of apple pie filling that get enclosed as this dense cake bakes. And the simple glaze drizzled on the cake adds the perfect amount of sweetness to this already amazing coffee cake.

Ingredients

CAKE:

1 pkg white cake mix (15.25 ounces)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup sour cream

3 Eggs

1/4 cup water

1 can(s) apple pie filling (21 ounces)

GLAZE:

1 cup confectioners’ sugar

1 – 1 1/2 tablespoons milk

How to make Apple Pie Filling Coffee Cake

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Using a mixer, beat the white cake mix, ground cinnamon, sour cream, eggs, and water until well combined. Into a 13 x 9-inch greased and floured pan, pour the mixture and top with spoonfuls of pie filling. Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.

Step 3: Remove the cake from the oven when done and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes.

Step 4: In the meantime, combine the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze. Add teaspoonfuls of milk if the glaze is too thick to drizzle until you reached your desired consistency.

Step 5: Over the cooled cake, drizzle the glaze, and let it cool completely before cutting.

Note:

Easily change the flavour of the cake by simply using your favourite pie filling like blueberry, apple, or strawberry.
