These are light and crispy Onion Fritters that never fail to impress everyone! Whip these up using only pantry ingredients and make this in less than thirty minutes. As a bonus, you can also use the batter for onion rings!
I got this recipe from a friend a few years ago. She knew how much I love onion rings and everything onion. The first time I tried this, I immediately fall head over heels! It’s an incredibly easy and quick recipe to make. The ingredients you need are already available. If desired, you can even add extra onions like what I always do. Whenever I make these fritters I make sure to whip up a big batch. My kids love these so much for lunch or dinner or as a side dish to any meal. This is a fantastic recipe perfect for everybody. Ingredients
3/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1-2 teaspoons salt-according to taste
3/4 cup milk
2 1/2 cups chopped onions
Oil, for frying
How to make Amish Onion Fritters
Step 1: Whisk the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt) until combined. Add the milk and stir until well mixed. The batter at this point will be thick.
Step 2: To the batter, add the onions and mix until completely incorporated.
Step 3: In a skillet, heat half an inch of oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, drop the batter by tablespoons. Cook the fritters until both sides are brown and crispy.
Step 4: Remove from the hot oil and transfer the fritters on paper towels to drain. Enjoy warm!
