Ingredients
3/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1-2 teaspoon salt-according to taste
3/4 cup milk
2 1/2 cups chopped onions
Oil for frying
How to make Amish Onion Fritters
Step 1: Combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt) until well mixed.
Step 2: Pour in the milk and stir until the batter is thick.
Step 3: Add the onions into the batter and mix until incorporated.
Step 4: In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat half an inch of oil.
Step 5: Once the oil is hot, drop tablespoons of batter into the skillet. Slightly flatten and fry both sides until brown and crisp.
Step 6: When done, transfer the fritters on paper towels to drain.
Step 7: Serve warm. Enjoy!
