PREP TIME: 10 MINS | COOK TIME: 50 MINS | TOTAL TIME: 1 HR | SERVINGS: 8 PEOPLE

Warm your tummies with this delicious old-fashioned American Goulash. A comforting meal that’s so easy to throw together and made in just one pot! This goulash is a hearty dish with stewed beef and tomatoes. A complete meal in a pot that leaves you full and satisfied. It’s great for sharing, and leftover tastes so much better.

Ingredients

2 c. elbow macaroni noodles uncooked

2 lbs ground beef

1 c. cheddar cheese shredded

4 cloves garlic minced

1 large onion diced

3 c. water

1 tbsp beef base or bouillon

2 15-oz. cans diced tomatoes (one petite diced)

2 15-oz. cans tomato sauce

3 bay leaves

1 tbsp Seasoned salt

2 tbsp Italian Seasoning

2 tsp paprika

3 tbsp soy sauce

Fresh Italian parsley chopped

1/2 tsp black pepper

HOW TO MAKE AMERICAN GOULASH

Step 1: In a large stockpot, cook the ground beef until no longer pink. When done, remove from the pan and drain, leaving around 1 to 2 tbsp grease in the pan.

Step 2: In the same pan, add the diced onion and cook over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes until tender. Add the garlic and cook for a minute more.

Step 3: Place the ground beef back in the pan. Add the water, beef base, cans of tomatoes and sauce, soy sauce, bay leaves, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, paprika, and black pepper. Stir and bring the mixture to a boil. Put the lid on, then adjust the heat to low. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 20 minutes.

Step 4: Uncover and stir in the noodles. Replace the lid and continue to simmer for another 15 to 20 minutes or until al dente. Stir often to keep the noodles from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step 5: Stir in the cheese just before serving. Garnish with some fresh parsley and serve. Enjoy!
