Air Fryer Homemade French Fries

by Rebecca February 6, 2021

I recently landed my hands on my very first air fryer, and I cannot be more excited! I watched and heard so many good things about it, so I have to have it! And you know the first thing I made? French Fries! I was so surprised that they turned out crispy and golden brown minus the oil. Surely, these are much healthier than the deep-fried version!

Ingredients

2 large russet potatoes, washed

2 tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

How to make Air Fryer Homemade French Fries

Step 1: Slice the potatoes into fries using a mandoline. Or slice the potatoes into 1/4 inch sections.

Step 2: In a large bowl, place the fries and cover with enough water.

Step 3: Allow the potatoes to sit in the water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and soak the potatoes again in new water for another 30 minutes.

Step 4: Once you reach the full hour of soaking the fries. Drain and pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 5: Toss the fries with a few tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Step 6: Ready Air Fryer. Preheat it to 375 degrees F. Preheating depends on the model of your air fryer.

Step 7: Into the bottom of the air fryer, add the fries in a single layer. Make sure that they have a bit of space between each piece.

Step 8: Cook the fries for about 7 minutes. After 7 minutes, shake or flip the fries. Cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until the fries are crispy and golden brown.

Step 9: Enjoy the fries immediately.

Notes:

If you have to cook the fries in batches, do so. Repeat the same process until the fries are cooked.

Note the if cooking the fries in batches that you have to place the cooked fries in a 200 degrees F preheated oven on a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet.
