How to make 5 Star Lemon Cream Cheese Bars
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C.
Step 2: Using aluminium foil, line the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, then grease with cooking spray.
Step 3: Into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, press a can of a crescent roll dough, stretching it to the edges.
Step 4: In a bowl, combine the zest of 1 1/2 lemons and juice from 2 lemons. Add the cream cheese followed by half cup of sugar. Beat using an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Then, spread this over the crescent roll dough layer.
Step 5: Make another layer of crescent roll dough on top of the cream cheese mixture, stretching it gently to the edges.
Step 6: Brush the crescent roll dough layer with the melted butter and sprinkle over the combined lemon zest and (the rest of the 3 tbsp) sugar.
Step 7: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the bar for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven when done and let the bar cool for at least 20 minutes before lifting it from the baking dish using the foil. Place the bar on a cutting board and cut into squares, leaving the foil on.
Step 8: Place the dessert back to the baking dish and store it in the fridge for at least an hour or until chilled.
