Southern Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Mushrooms, and Onions

I have shared this many times and received nothing but compliments. Yes, this is fattening but heck yeah! It’s worth it! And anything with bacon is simply loved! Don’t worry about your picky eaters because this Southern Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Mushrooms, and Onions is crazy delicious, they wouldn’t mind the cabbage.

Ingredients

1 pound bacon

1 large head cabbage, chopped

1 large onion, chopped

1 (8 ounces) package sliced fresh mushrooms

salt and ground black pepper to taste

How to make Southern Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Mushrooms, and Onions

Step 1: Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.

Step 2: Add bacon and cook until crispy.

Step 3: Remove the crispy bacon from the skillet onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess grease.

Step 4: Discard the rest of the bacon grease from the skillet and leave about 3 tbsp.

Step 5: Add the cabbage, mushrooms, and onion. Saute until brown.

Step 6: Put the crispy bacon back to the skillet and stir everything until well combined.

Step 7: Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.

Step 8: Serve and enjoy!
